Ashton aim to avenge FA Trophy exit while Radcliffe host Hyde

Evo-Stik League logoASHTON UNITED aim to avenge Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat as they host Marine in the Evo-Stik Premier tonight.

Marine won 4-0 at Hurst Cross at the weekend, making it four games without a win for the Robins, and they need a win tonight to revive their league campaign.

Ashton started the season with an eight-match unbeaten run in the league but then saw joint-managers Steve Halford and Paul Phillips leave for Stalybridge Celtic – followed by several of their players. Injuries haven’t helped new player-managers Joby Banim and Will Haining, and Banim was even sent off after a second yellow card on Saturday.

Marine are 17th in the table but eighth-placed Ashton will need a much-improved performance to get back to winning ways.

MOSSLEY are also out for revenge in the Evo-Stik North as they visit Farsley Celtic, who beat them 3-1 in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

RADCLIFFE BOROUGH’s Evo-Stik North match with Colne on Saturday was abandoned as keeper Matty Johnson suffered a broken leg. They return to action tonight with a derby at home to HYDE UNITED.

A late James Burke goal on Saturday saw Hyde salvage a 1-1 draw at Ossett Town, which made it three unbeaten for the Tigers. A Hyde win will see them edge above Boro, who are 13th. Radcliffe have another derby at home on Saturday against Droylsden, whose game was postponed as Colwyn Bay have an FA Trophy replay.

TRAFFORD and RAMSBOTTOM UNITED both progressed in the FA Trophy and Trafford hope to go four unbeaten tonight at home to Prescot Cables while Ramsbottom host Tadcaster Albion.

In the North West Counties Premier, MAINE ROAD and WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON are both away – to Hanley Town and Nelson, respectively.
