CURZON ASHTON will field their new-look squad for the first time as they visit Nantwich Town tonight.

The National League North outfit were due to face neighbours Mossley on Saturday but the friendly was rained off so they will start their pre-season programme in Cheshire.

Forward Matty Warburton was lured to Curzon’s new league rivals Salford City, who despite being promoted to non-league’s second tier for the first time are one of the league’s biggest spenders.

The Nash received an undisclosed fee for the 24-year-old, who scored 54 goals in 118 games after joining from Maine Road in 2013, helping the club win back-to-back promotions.

Veteran striker Mike Norton has taken two steps down to join Hyde United but otherwise manager John Flanagan has managed to keep hold of most of the squad that comfortably kept Curzon in the National League North last term.

Flanagan has also made several additions as he looks to build on last term’s 11th-placed finish.

Full-back Jack Truelove has made a permanent move after being on loan from Oldham Athletic last season, while midfielder Michael Potts and ex-Stockport County pair Paul Ennis and Iain Howard have also been signed.

Midfielder Ryan Hall and young striker Jonny Higham then arrived at the Tameside Stadium and Flanagan’s latest signing was last week, with Danny Hall joining from Guiseley. The experienced centre-back helped local rivals Hyde win the National League North title in 2012.

He is set to make his competitive debut for Curzon when they kick off their new league campaign at home to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, August 6.

The Nash then visit Bradford Park Avenue and Alfreton Town before welcoming Darlington 1883 for their second home game on Monday, August 15.

Their first derby is away to relegated Altrincham on Saturday, August 27, before hosting Salford City two days later.
