BURY will be sporting a limited edition strip when they begin their pre-season programme on Saturday.
The Shakers will feature in a three-team tournament at Morecambe’s Globe Arena, playing against the hosts and Blackburn on the same day. And they will do so in a bespoke royal blue shirt produced by their new kit manufacturers, Kappa.
Bury’s new home and away kit are now on sale but the limited edition strip they will wear for all their pre-season games will be signed by the players and auctioned off on the eve of the new season to raise money for charity.
Those autographs will feature the likes of goalkeepers Chris Kirkland and Ben Williams, and defensive trio Antony Kay, Greg Leigh and Niall Maher, who have all been signed over the summer.
Bury boss David Flitcroft has also brought in winger Zeli Ismail and forward Nicky Clark as he aims to improve on last season, when the Shakers finished 15th in their first season back in League One, only to drop to 16th after a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player in their final game.
However, Bury have agreed to sell left-back Chris Hussey (Sheffield United), right-back Joe Riley (Shrewsbury) and striker Danny Rose (Mansfield) in a bid to balance the books.
The Shakers have just returned from a pre-season training camp in Portugal and after the weekend’s trip to Morecambe they visit Southport the following Saturday.
Trips to non-league neighbours Ramsbottom United (July 27) and Radcliffe Borough (July 29) follow before Bury end their pre-season preparations at Blackpool (July 30).
Flitcroft’s men then have a tough start to the new League One season as they host relegated Charlton on Saturday, August 6, before visiting Gillingham and Coventry in their next two league games.
