OLDHAM ATHLETIC have made their 13th summer signing after handing Paul Green a one-year contract today.
The 33-year-midfielder was out of contract after leaving Rotherham and had been on trial with the Latics, playing 70 minutes in Tuesday night’s friendly defeat by Wigan.
New Oldham manager Steve Robinson saw enough to add Green to his squad and he brings plenty of experience having racked up 547 appearances for the likes of Doncaster, Derby and Leeds, scoring 57 goals.
Earlier in the week, BURY couldn’t resist Sheffield United’s pursuit of Leon Clarke any longer and the Shakers agreed to sell their top scorer for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old striker signed a three-year deal with the Blades, following left-back Chris Hussey from Bury to Bramall Lane.
WIGAN also forked out an undisclosed fee this week to sign Jake Buxton, who had another year on his contract with Derby. The 31-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal with the Latics, who have let winger Sanmi Odelusi join ROCHDALE on a season-long loan.
In non-league, John Askey further strengthened his MACCLESFIELD squad by signing former Bristol Rovers midfielder Ollie Norburn from Guiseley.
STALYBRIDGE CELTIC tinkered with their squad as Alec Mudimu (Northwich Victoria) and Amour Lingouba (DROYLSDEN) both left, allowing Liam Watson to bring in ex-Everton trainee Liam Hynes and fellow midfielder Callum Bagshaw, who played in the Highland League last season.
